in his article in the NYT the professor, Edward O . Wilson argues against setting half the planet for conversation in order to preserve biodiversity. He has a few books The Future of Life and Half-Earth. in another article in the NYT, entrepreneur Hansjorg Wyss, lionizes Edward O. Wilson's work and talks about himself donating US$1bn over next few years for conservation.
Subsequent to the articles above, in the NYT there is a new article about the rapidly dwindling forest areas. A few notable quotes:
Definition of a wilderness area: "Wilderness, the study’s authors said, is defined as an area not subject to direct human use. These areas are the only places on earth that have natural levels of biodiversity, and can continue to sustain plant and animal species on an evolutionary time scale."
"The parts of the world most in need of protecting are in some of the largest and most powerful nations, the study found. More than 70 percent of wilderness areas can be found in Russia, Canada, Australia, the United States and Brazil."
“We cannot afford to lose more,” he said. “We must save it in its entirety.”
This is what we are trying to do here in the sitio.
