Mozambique: AZLera's Project Ocean – Voz Jovem

I have often written of our programme on the island ( you can follow our Project Ocean FB page here and see our old site AZLera here). Hence, wanted to share the latest work product from our children, created by our wonderful volunteers, Max and Margarida and our amazing coordinator / project manager Freddie Brunt.

Voz Jovem, the newspaper is our first (click here to see the newspaper!), and it is the latest in a series of new projects on the island with our children such as capoeira, foreign language hours, social debates, community projects, art (wonderful from my newly acquainted, yet ever strangely familiar friend – margarida botelho – click here to see her website: http://www.margaridabotelho.com ) and even ping-pong!

Don’t like to anticipate (in order to follow Krisnamurthy’s very rational dictum on human sorrow – “all human sorrow comes from memory and expectations”), yet, I am very much looking forward to being in Africa shortly at the end of this year.

The island of Mozambique has meant so much to me over the years, despite its proclivity to making me tear when leaving and due to its ever modernization (the pains of memory again!).

Bom, Africa, here we come. Hopefully, I can see you again, and feel embraced by your warmth and love.

Ps: we will launch soon our new Project Ocean website and also volunteer application process for the next year, I will send a note on that shortly.
