I was really overjoyed this week to hear that Aung San Suu Kyi was freed in Burma this week. Yet, I wanted to enjoy the moment and not be overburdened by the expectations on what she can do.
Thought of it like a “second” Mandela liberation, of a figure just as big (bigger? Let’s avoid comparisons). A figure that liberates the individual from its indifference in the same way that James Nachtwey does it through his photography according to his credo (read here, click on Nachtwey's Credo) . Liberation from cynicism, where a person goes to extreme circumstances for its beliefs.
Let's celebrate then then "Lady's" release and hope that not only Burma but everyone else also becomes aware of how momentous this is, and how positive an event this is for humanity.
